Childhood memories…

Joke — Wed, 29 Jan 2014 08:37:17 +0000

Do you still remember from childhood – back drawing? Children love drawing on people’s backs! Our game Rückenmaler with 12 coloured finger-tracing cards offers the perfect tools for this. Released today at Toy Fair Nürnberg! An experience game for old and young using actions that develop sensory perception and spatial intelligence in a quiet atmosphere.

Fun is the Keyword

Joke — Wed, 29 Jan 2014 08:21:37 +0000

Put away your smartphones and game tablets, and gather round the table with family or friends for a game of Keyword!
Our newest release is launched today at the Toy Fair in Nürnberg. It’s the most challenging word puzzle game: all players play simultaneously, without having to wait for their turns. Tactics are involved too: the code is cracked by collecting the right letters for the keyword. The game is ready to order online through www.spellenrijk.nl and in stores soon!

All worries disappear in Nürnberg

Joke — Fri, 01 Feb 2013 15:51:43 +0000

Though Nürnberg is cold, inside the fair buildings the heat is on! We have spent a few hectic days, going from one appointment to the next and trying to scout the innovations in-between. Among the toys, we have seen pluche Buddhas, several Lego-adaptations, and loads of quadrocopters.

Some game trends: learning games for under 2 years, and many toys and games with App companions or App integration. Most of those are still based on very familiar concepts; the real innovation is rather technical than playwise.

One of our favourites is Schmidt’s ‘Sorgenfresser’ line: pluche toys with a zipper as mouth, happy to eat up al your worries.

Making videos full of fun

Joke — Thu, 10 Jan 2013 15:50:01 +0000

With a few weeks to go, we are preparing the materials to show our business partners at the Nürnberg Toy Fair. Editing the videos of all the play-testing with children is a fun but time-consuming activity. We’re quite happy with the way some of the games have evolved in a few rounds of testing and improving – lots of happy faces in our videos. We wished we could share them on our website… but you’ll have to wait until the games are in the toy store.

Trends and hypes

The New York toy fair (officially ‘American International Toy Fair’) has ended. Blogs and reviewers are summarising the trends. Some are pretty predictable: the merger of physical board games with electronic devices (iPad!) is taking off, physical activity is promoted through electronic toys and games, and the inevitable Angry Birds are on a pig-hunt in digital, physical, cuddly and other forms. We like the trend that Reyne Rice of the Toy Fair called ‘simply social’: family games that bring people together, are easily played, take little time, and promote social awareness in a number of ways.
